Designing the President — Stanford d.school

Tonight is the last Democratic debate of 2019. I'm thrilled to share that a few of the materials from the inaugural Designing the President class are now available online. Presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin repeatedly reminds us that we should be looking at the leadership qualities of the candidates: "What kind of leaders have they been in the past? What kind of teams do they have around them? Do they have empathy? compassion? resilience?" What experiences, values, and personal attributes do you value? What are your assumptions and biases? And how can you learn from others who have different opinions than you? In 2020 we'll be hosting more public workshops and plan to make all of the design materials online, including lesson plans for civics and history teachers that are compatible with Common Core standards. We believe that design promotes positive agency and collective possibility. We hope you'll join the Designing the President effort!
